TITLE
Modelling decentralized and spatial interactions in industrial dynamics

ABSTRACT
The paper focuses on the new ways to model decentralized and spatial interactions in order to discuss their respective relevance for explanations we can provide on the main stylized facts of economic geography: the spatial coexistence of organizational forms and the spatial coherence such a macro-order exhibits. For that purpose, statistical interaction models, evolutionary game theory and Artificial Worlds are studied as self-organization processes allowing us to understand how macroeconomic order can emerge as a result of a decentralized interaction process between rationally bounded agents. Each of these heuristics is also tackled according to the problem of the economic relevance and viability of models introduced from other disciplines such as physics or biology. Lastly, a research agenda on the use of these approaches in spatial economics is drawn up. CLASSIFICATION CODES: B52, C73, E11, R10.
